O'Darling v. O'Darling
No. FD-2006-2820 (Okla. Dist. Ct. Tulsa
Cnty.)
No. DF-104107 (Okla.)
Two Oklahoma women who
celebrated a marriage in Canada sought a divorce. Not realizing that the
parties were both female, the trial judge initially granted the divorce but,
upon discovering the sexes of the parties, vacated that order and dismissed
the divorce petition. The parties have appealed to the state high court.
The Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives has intervened in the
case to argue against recognition of the Canadian same-sex marriage.
